Account Services on the Web

Why are we asking for a password here?

Because the original "!banguser" was created only in Windows Active Directory, it was never known to the password synchronization service.

You have three options:

  • BLANK - Leave the password field empty
  • CURRENT - Enter the current password for this !banguser (if you know it).
  • NEW - Enter a new password

ActionResults
BLANK The password will be unsychronized until the Net-ID changes their password via windows. The Net-ID will be unable to use some services (e.g., ASW) until the password is synchronized. This option is most appropriate for SERVICE and RESOURCE accounts.
CURRENT The passwords will be synchronized. All services will be available. This is most appropriate for AFFILIATE and ROLE accounts where you already know the password, ESPECIALLY if there are any SCHEDULED TASKS associated with the account.
NEW The password will be synchronized, CHANGING the windows password. This option mat be useful if you do not know the current windows password. You will need to get the new password to the account owner somehow (please do not use email!). This option is A BAD IDEA if the account has any scheduled tasks.
