Every file system has a type which indicates how it is used,
how space is allocated for it, etc.

| ACADEMIC |
At no charge, instructors may create a 20MB file system for each of their courses.
These need to be renewed every semester. |
| GROUP |
Disk quota for group file systems were given to the original groups
participating in Project Vincent, they are no longer created. |
| HOMEDIR |
The home directory for Project Vincent users. |
| INFO |
For University Relations use (www.iastate.edu). |
| PROJECT |
For ITS internal use. |
| PRIVATE |
For privately-owned disks. |
| PUBLIC |
Packages of general public interest installed by ITS. |
| RENTAL |
Rented space, available to anyone with either an Account's Receivable Account (aka a "U-Bill") or access to a Department Fund Account (aka an "intramural") |
| SYSTEM |
For ITS internal use. |
| VIRTUAL |
For ITS use, for the Virtual Web Hosting Service. |
