How to name a list
- A valid list name is 2 to 64 characters long.
- A valid list name contains only the following kinds of characters:
- lowercase letters ('a'..'z')
- numeric digits ('0'..'9')
- dot ('.'), dash ('-'), and slash ('/')
- The first and last character of a valid list name must be
a lowercase letter or a digit
- Consecutive punctuation characters (.-/) are not valid.
- Use of the slash character is not recommended as it is not valid
in Windows Active Directory (if such a list is provisioned into AD,
the slashes will be replaced with dashes).
- Some system-created lists may contain an underscore ('_'),
but this character is not available for user-created lists.
Some listnames are reserved:
- You can not use a list name that someone else has already used.
- You can not create a list with the same name as someone else's Net-ID.
- If you create a list with the same name as
your Net-ID, it can not be used for email.
- List names that start with
grp- or
rsrc- are reserved for Office 365's internal use.
