Usage of Acropolis printers is managed in three different ways.- Centrally (ITS) managed printers use printing grants to charge
for printing.
A grant may be used on any printer that charges for use.
The amount you may print depends on the balance of the grant
and the per-page cost, which varies by printer and form (e.g.,
transparencies are more expensive than paper).
Currently, ISU community members have grants:
- Your 'U-Bill' grant (ubill_) which is funded by you (via Accounts Receivable).
- Your 'subsidy' grant (subsidy_) which for STUDENTS is funded by your computer fees.
- In addition, you or your department may create other grants.
- Some departments use a quota system to limit the number of pages you may print on their printers. To check your usage of this quota, enter the name of the printer.
- Some departments do not use any ITS-supplied mechanism for limiting printer usage; however you should NOT assume this means you are allowed unlimited usage. Check with your department for details.
Note in addition to volume management via grants or quotas, departments generally limit who can use their printers via access control lists.
