Policy

ISU policy currently allows students and employees to have their email delivered to an external mail provider (gmail, yahoo, etc). As email is an official communications channel of the university, by doing so you accept the responsibility of insuring your mail is delivered so you are able to read it in a timely manner.

Process

If you select Delivered to email address as your email delivery option, you will need to supply an external email address to have your email delivered to (for example, if you were to transfer to another school).

Note that when you click on the "Update Now" button, we will send an email to your (proposed) external email address. Your forwarding will not take effect until you click on the link in the email. This is to insure that you entered a correct email address that you have access to.

Note: If you choose this option your email will no longer be delivered to your local (CyMail or Exchange) mailbox.

Duration

For students current policy is that forwarding (external delivery) of your email will last for at least 6 months (and probably closer to a year) after you leave ISU.

For employees mail delivery, including forwarding, is discontinued the first business day after separation from ISU. Any email received will be returned with a notice of non-delivery. The employee may specify an address for personal correspondence which will be included in the notice. If the employee was forwarding email at the time of separation, the default address included is the address they were forwarding to.
