Your Iowa State Network-ID (Net-ID) is your electronic identity for as long as you are at ISU.
Don't choose something you will regret!

Your Net-ID is 3 to 8 characters long and consists of lowercase letters (and optionally numeric digits).

No two people may have the same Net-ID at ISU.

A good choice is something like:

  • Your first initial followed by (up to the first 7 letters of) your last name. For example: "John Q. Average" might choose a Net-ID of "javerage".
  • Your first two initials followed by (up to the first 6 letters of) your last name. For example: "John Q. Public" might choose a Net-ID of "jqpublic"
  • Your first and last name together if they are 8 characters or less. For example: "Jane Q. Doe" might choose a Net-ID of "janedoe" (or "janeqdoe")..
If you have a common name (e.g., John Smith) you may have to be creative. (Sponsored Net-IDs may be up to 16 characters long.)
